Good lord has it been a month already? So anyway January was quite a busy month, workwise. For those of you who haven’t been following the shenanigans going on at jonkenpon, here’s a (very) brief summary of what we’ve been doing…
8apps
8apps is a social network for productive people. When you join 8apps you’ll have access to 8 applications (currently in beta, so only 3 for now) that help you to work better. In 8apps you can use the social network side to chat, meet new people and build up a contact list. The cool thing about 8apps is your contact list becomes available for you to use in all the other apps. For example in the 8apps task manager (called Orchestrate) I can share any of my lists with any of my contacts. In Blueprint - a brainstorming tool - I can pull in any of my contacts to a brainstorming session to get their input and ideas on my project This is all explained much better at the jonkenpon site on this post.
Pikki
Pikki is a cute, simple-to-use phonecam blog site. You send your phonecam pics via your phone to a special address and they automagically appear on your pikki blog. Each user can decorate their pikki blog however they like and each Pikki blog features an exportable calendar of thumbnails that you can put on your existing blog. Apple, Dried Cherry and Almond Loaf
Makes 12 slices
50g (1/2 cup) rolled oats 300ml milk 2 cups self raising flour (can use wholemeal) 1 teaspoon baking powder 125g dried cherries 50g dried apple, diced 75g (1/3 cup) soft brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 3 tablespoons honey 1 egg, lightly beaten 3 tablespoons roughly chopped almonds, plus 2 tablespoons extra
To serve Fresh ricotta and honey
Put the oats in a bowl, pour the milk over them and leave to soak for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180 deg C of 350 deg F / Gas 4. Lightly grease and line a 1kg loaf tin with baking paper.
Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl and stir in the rolled oats, dried fruit, sugar cinnamon, honey, egg and almonds. Mix together well.
Spoon the mixture into the tin, level the top and sprinkle with the extra almonds. Bake the loaf for 45 minutes or until it is golden brown on top and cooked through. Leave it to cool a little in the tin before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Toast and serve with ricotta and honey.
