You need to re-install stuffit, I think. It’s nothing to do with the plugin though.

    Will / November 25th, 2005
  13. actually I think that’s a problem with the infosports site - they are displaying lat/long backwards - if you get your lat/long from another place I think it’s ok.

  15. Great tool! I love it. Thx for the code, Yongfook! It would be really great to be able to use this while posting by email. Anyone figured out how to do that yet? Is there some way to enclose a tag for Lon/Lat or for a predefined location? This would really come in handy when being on the road and blogging by mail.

    Grasland / November 26th, 2005
  16. But….you did get longitude and latitude the wrong way around :) Click the “maps” link that’s placed next to a predefined location on the Options/Geo Info page.

    Cato / November 28th, 2005
  24. Cato I think I know the problem - I forgot to addslashes to the title strings so the titles you have that have quotation marks ” ” are messing up the script. I’ll fix it and let you know.

  31. beautiful! It’s working great. A couple questions: - where do I look to change content/style the pop-up windows so as to add a pic (as you have done)or show post excerpts? - wouldn’t it be cool to link from the post itself to a centered location on the main map? The GeoMashUp plugin, which is similar to yours (but I couldn’t get working) supposedly allows for this. Thanks yongfook.

  51. Awesome plugin! worked immediately with no problem….

Ummm…except this one….It formats the map text based on the css style of the page. My page text is all white and i want to keep it that way. Unfortunately, all of the google boxes are also white, so they appear blank.

Do you have a recommendation as to how to make the text on the google map black while the original text is still white? Referencing a different css tag or inline formating should work, but what line needs that formatting??

    Any idea?

I agree with the other poster, if you included a way to link directly from a post to that posts place on the map (like geomashup) it would be even cooler! :)

    Thanks!

  55. Hi - thanks for the plugin. I am having trouble with the plugin pushing sidebars out of line and wanted to see if you had any ideas. I have tried several themes, changed the size of the map etc. etc. and it seems to effect all two column themes that I have tried.

I loaded the Almost Spring theme that Deepak has running on his site and had the same problem. When I asked, he said that he had a straight install of the plugin and no changes to the theme.

Here is a link to the map page - http://tber.com/test/googlemap/. The rest of the site seems to be fine. Any ideas?

  56. […] A WordPress 2.0 feature I like is the ability to write pages (as opposed to Posts) which are kept alive in the sidebar and therefore resemble ’stickies’ (in WP parlace ‘they live outside of the usual timeline’). At the moment there is just one test-page NAGworldMAP on which you can see that geocoding was added to this site via the Geo Plugin (allowing to add geographic data to posts) and the instant google world map Plugin plotting these data on a Google Map. At the moment you can see the distance I have to cycle to get to the university, but I have pplans to do something more substantial with this feature soon, so please familiarize yourself with dragging and zooming the map (for US-citizens, European countries often do not put geographic data in the public domain, so there is a limit to the zoom-factor and I use the ’satellite’-view rather than any of the other two). I have included a zip file that has a slightly revised GoogleMap plugin that interfaces with ImageManager Plugin for uploading and thumbnailing the images included on the map.

Zip also includes the geo plugin and ImageManager plugin (unedited)

For people experiencing IE crashes check that your Rich Editor is off when adding the DIV tag. I found that the Rich Editor was messing up the DIv tags leaving an opn DIV which crashes IE 6.

Check out my website for the complete zip file and also a variation on a theme - The Yahoo Members Map!
