It’s snowing! run for the hills.

Its so cold at the moment that-

  • I have to leave my fridge open just to heat the house.

  • my hair catches on fire when I have a hot shower.

  • I have to dust off snow from my pillow before I sleep.

  • I ski out of the bathroom.

  • if I sneeze, my head falls off.

  • I found a penguin in my miso soup this morning.

Yep its been snowing in Kyushu. Luckily this region doesn’t normally get much snow - this being about the 3rd time our village has seen God’s frozen dandruff this year. Living in the paper tents we call houses, you have to really wrap yourself up warm at night so that you don’t wake up and find yourself to be dead. Thus I have upgraded my current sleeping arrangements as follows - 3 chunky blankets, fleece tracksuit bottoms, one long sleeved thermal undershirt, one long-sleeved t-shirt over the top of that, thick socks, 2 large plush toys, optional gloves, optional scarf. After this, the only part of my body that feels the cold at night is my face - but I cant think of a way of keeping my face warm whilst sleeping, that doesn’t also carry a mild risk of death by suffocation.

Another thing that is keeping me warm at the moment is the discovery of a brand of delicious cooking sauces that actually turns cooking for myself into an activity that isn’t immediately followed by pain and suffering as I eat whatever shite it is that I have made.

The brand is CookDo, and they make Chinese sauces. I recommend to any of my readers who reside in Japan to give them a try, even though they are probably all based on a combination of MSG and different food colourings.
