I now have money
I was paid yesterday, so I have been reaping the benefits of being catapulted back into the warm breast of consumerism. Items that I have gone without for the last week, such as food and soap, are now well within my capacity for purchase. Today was my usual Tuesday of Elementary school mayhem. Deafeningly riot-like English classes juxtapose distinctively with the soundless staffroom. In the staffroom the Kocho-sensei (principal) stalks the vicinity with a rigid gaze and fly swatter in hand. Poised like some kind of wrong-brained ninja, he pounces from desk to desk, smashing insects with apparent glee, verbalising his triumph with a victorious “yosh”.
I prepare for lessons quietly at my desk as the silent staff room atmosphere is permeated by the regular hiatus of,
THWACK “yosh”
THWACK “yosh”
In semi-meditation, I wonder how it can be Tuesday already, seeing as I don’t remember doing anything of consequence at the weekend. Roll on Friday.
